How we check error codes

Every guide on FaultDecode follows the same rules.

  1. Official source first. The meaning and the steps come from the brand's own support page or manual. Each guide links to that source at the bottom.
  2. No source, no page. If a brand has not explained a code anywhere we can find, we leave it out rather than guess.
  3. Models can differ. Some brands use the same code for different faults on different models. When that happens, the guide says so and tells you how to find your model number.
  4. Safety before DIY. We only suggest checks that do not open the unit: taps, hoses, filters, breakers, resets. For gas, refrigerant, wiring or burning smells, the guide tells you to switch off and call a technician.
  5. Dated checks. Each guide shows the date we last checked it against the source. We re-check guides when brands change their support pages.
  6. No invented prices. Repair cost is shown only once we have real quotes from technicians.
